How do I register my child for the coming school year?  


If your child who has not attended St. Simon Stock School in the previous year, come directly to the school's office.  Ms. Rivera or Ms. Gigi will setup an appointment for you and your child to meet with  Mrs. Ceparano, the school principal.  This interview will allow you and your child to determine if St. Simon Stock School is the right school for you.


What should I bring?


Bring your child with you!  And bring the following forms:
    • A copy of your child's most recent report card   (If you are registering your child for 2nd through 8th grade)
    • The registration fee is $250.00 per child.  This fee is non-refundable.
    • The immunization records for your child.
    • A copy of your child's baptism certificate. (If your child is baptized.)
    • A copy of your child's birth certificate.
    • An application fee of $25.00 for processing This is non-refundable.


How much is the tuition?


There are two tuition scales for all the attending St. Simon Stock School.  Parents who are parishioners of St. Simon Stock Church pay the "in-parish" rate.  Parents who are not parishioners pay the "out of parish" rate.  The tuition scales are as follows:

In Parish:
 1    Child.......................................$3000.00  = 10 payments of $ 300.00 monthly
 2    Children .................................$4170.00  = 10 payments of $ 417.00 monthly
 3    Children or more ....................$4,870.00  = 10 payments of $ 487.00 monthly

Out of Parish

 1    Child.......................................$ 3,480.00  = 10 payments of $ 348.00 monthly
 2    Children .................................$ 5,350.00  = 10 payments of $ 535.00 monthly
 3    Children or more ....................$ 5,780.00  = 10 payments of $ 578.00 monthly


How do I know if I am a Parishioner or not?


In order to be considered a "parishioner" of St. Simon Stock Church and therefore receive "in-parish"" tuition, a family has to meet the following requirements:
  • Be registered in St. Simon Stock parish and have attend mass regularly for at least 4 months when you register your child at St. Simon Stock School.
  • have been using the church donation envelopes provided by the parish regularly for the past 4 months and continue to do so next year.
  • Contribute to the parish at least $300.00 by using the church envelopes in the past year.

Are there any other expenses?


There are no other tuition expenses.  However, there are fees during the school year such as the graduation fee for students in the Kindergarten and 8th grade.  There are several voluntary fund-raisers that takes place during the school year such as the various candy sales, the school raffle and school pictures.  There are fees for any class trip or activity which will based on the cost of the trip.

Finally, the following programs all have fees attached to them:
    • Remedial program
    • After-School program
    • Summer School


Does my child have to be Catholic?


No, your child does not have to be Catholic to attend St. Simon Stock School.  The majority of our students are Catholic, but we welcome non-Catholic students alike. Ethnically our students are very mixed, representing over 45 countries of origin.  Through the development of Christian and Catholic principles based  on the Gospel message, each child is nurtured with the values needed to be contributing citizens in their future communities.  All students must take religion classes and must attend all religious events and services that take place as part of the regular school day.


Does my child have to be a citizen of the United States?


No, your child does not have to citizen of the United States.


What about Uniforms?


Students at St. Simon Stock wear a school uniform.  There is a dress code.  Uniforms can be purchased from Flynn & O'Hara. Order sheets will be given to you at registration time. ALL UNIFORMS MUST BE PURCHASED FROM FLYNN & O'HARA.

Is there any financial assistance?


Each child that attends St. Simon Stock school receives financial assistance assistance by the mere fact that it costs much more to educate a child than is charged in tuition.  St. Simon Stock School is assisted by the generosity of Alumni, the Archdiocese of New York, fund-raising activities and many donors who continue to support our school.

There is a limited amount of financial assistance available to families who want their children at attend St. Simon Stock School but do not have the financial resources to do so.  This assistance is given out on a "first-come, first-serve" basis.  Parents will need to provide proof of need by bringing copies of such things as: paycheck stubs, rent bills and income tax returns for the past year.  Catholic families who request financial assistance will also have to be parishioners of St. Simon Stock church.  For more information about financial assistance, please see Father Nelson our pastor or Mrs. Ceparano, our principal.


Does my child have to speak English?


No, your child does not have to speak English.  In fact, many of our students come from families where the primary language is not English.  A good number of students who enter our school for the first time do not speak or are very limited in their understanding of English.  "English as a Second Language" classes are offered during the school day to students who need it.  All regular instruction at St. Simon Stock School is done in English.


Is there an after-school program?


Yes, St. Simon Stock School runs as after school program which runs each day from dismissal until 6:00 pm for students 1st through 8th grade.  This is a community organized after school program. Therefore our dedicated teachers and parents from our community run the program.  Students have time to do their homework, while teacher and parents are available to assist them if there is a need. The computer room is available for students in the after-school program who need to do research or write papers.  Once homework is done, students have time for recreation.  A snack is provided.  

There is a fee for the after-school program.  Forms to register your child for this program will be sent home with your child during the first week of school each year.   This program was developed to provide care for children attending our school who come from families where both parents or a single-parent works.
