| CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 8TH GRADERS The results of the TACHS exam has been coming in. 23 out of 26 8th graders took the exam. 21 students made all 3 choices; the rest made 2 schools.. A definite $2,000 scholarship from Aquinas to Omalara Omotosho and she was invited to take the scholarship test for Spellman. Melissa Gonzalez was invited to take the scholarship test for Spellman and Dominican academy. Please be aware that we are again collecting food for St. Simon Stock pantry during the wekk of 22-29. Be generous for "if you feed the lest of my brethren you feed me" January is a very busy month!. The students in grades 5-8 will be taking their mid term exams the week of January 23-27. Our school Science fair will be held during Catholic School Week. All projects are due in Monday January 29th for viewing in the auditorium and taken home on Wednesday, February 1st. THE THEME OF CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK THIS YEAR IS: ACADEMIC, FAITH, SERVICE We will begin Catholic Schools week with our students speaking at Saturday night and Sunday Masses about the theme in general and our school in particular. We will again be having various functions to mark this week. The letter will be sent home on Friday January 13. Our Open house will be on Tuesday January 31st 9-1pm. If you miss the open house, not to worry, just call the school for an appointment to visit! We will end Catholic School Week on First Friday with a school wide Mass in Thanksgiving for who we are and what we do in our community. Our school community again sold Worlds Finest Chocolate for our Fall Fund Raiser. We are now in the process about having friendly competition between classes to finish off the fund raising. We are excited to be offering Enrichment Spanish classes to our 5th-8 graders September 2011. |

your tuition???? Recommend a family, have them register for the 2011-2012 school year. If they stay for the entire school year, you will be credited with
$200 off tuition for 2011-2012 school year!!!! The family you
recommend will also get a tuition reduction of $100.00 off their final tuitiion bill.
Please be aware of the
changes in early dismissal. It will now be at 12:00 noon on
most First Fridays.

Remember
our day begins at 7:45 with school-wide prayer. The auditorium doors
will close at 7:50 and the children will be considered late.
They will have to go to the main office, get a late pass, pay $1.00
late fee (which will go to charity) and wait until their class is on
the way up to get on line. Please be aware this is becoming a
problem again, AND Lateness may affect awards!!!!
OLD NEWS: BUT STILL NEWSWORTHY Can you believe this happened 2 years ago? We surely were goodluck charms for the Yankees- maybe they should come back for a revisit? THE SECRET IS OUT....... YANKEES CAME TO ST. SIMON STOCK!!!!!!!! |

Monday
9/28/2009 was the most exciting, awesome day that our school has seen in
awhile. It was quite hard keeping a secret. The teachers were
told Monday morning that some Yankees would be coming to speak to the
students. In the afternoon the children assembled in the
auditorium. They realized "something" was going on having to
do with the Yankees since they saw the stage decorated with various
Yankee symbols and they saw many news personnel setting up their
tripods.

The
Yankees were annnounced one by one by Paul Olden as the students and
adults cheered: Kennedy, Height, Dunn Aceves, Pena
Cervelli. The room was electric as the last Yankee was
announced Alex Rodriguez. They came to SSS to give the
students a message: stay in school and work. These
men brighten our young people's lives in many ways; they give back to
the community and are quite proactive.

Through
their accomplishments they motivate the children to be the best they
can be. They empowered our chidren to be the best they can be.
They empowered our children with the knowlede that they too can succeed
if they stay focused. Their prsence at St. Simon Stock is one
that will not be forgotten.
